Disconnected

The fun and games element used to entice unwilling students into a subject like history can be so disproportionate that there is not even a whiff of content left:
Students at Parkside Middle School [in Minnesota] recreated the battle of Fredericksburg, but instead of guns, they used water balloons. [...] the battle is known one as the most one-sided of the war and a terrible loss for the Union side. The students say this is a great way to learn history.

Jordan Everts, student: "Learning about Fredericksburg, how humiliation is good for the heart and strength can be so powerful, it's fun."
Don't laugh. They enjoyed their water fight and made their "history" teacher feel good about himself.
